IN PROFILE

Sustained over time
Persevering dilettante, creative by definition, intense, solemn, profound, essential. There’s a David for every instant... the David who creates, the one who observes, the one who listens, the one who isn’t there... because it’s his world, a world that is so rich and at the same time so intimate; a world that is unknown, discreet and private; a world from which true musical treasures emerge from time to time – accurate and evocative. Living.

Natural talent, diverse expression, without artifice; a silent stage suddenly subjected to sustained hammering; bold, tender, intense and rebellious or quite the contrary. A reserve simmering a melody over a slow heat... and, after a leap forward, a step back to get perspective and a silence that painstakingly observes every gesture, every detail... every passing swallow. Impassive. And what is he thinking about...? I'm thinking.

Without making a noise and in perfect profile with the infinite of each note, it is the music that rebels against the silence of the years. He sits at the grand piano and tirelessly plays all that music – so intense, so visceral and so modest – that was conceived one day purely for company. And only in company can it re-emerge: divertimento.
I sit beside him, close my eyes and let it carry me away... There is an infinite path to be followed and a piano sustained over time, suddenly shattering the silence and making it into poetry.
